Okay, for you youngsters who are looking at these people, wondering how they are related to you, here's my attempt at clearing it up. Rose Sturtz (the matriarch of this blog) was the daughter of Louis and Mary Capelle. Mary Capelle's maiden name was Thielen. This picture features Mary's sister, Caroline Curran (nee Thielen). Caroline actually went by Lena. So, when you hear a story referencing "Aunt Lena," she was Rose Sturtz's Aunt. Agnes Durliat (nee Capelle) was Rose's second sister, therefore, Lena was also aunt to the woman sitting next to her, Agnes.
I am one of many people related to Rose and Louis Sturtz. If you belong to this clan, I may have in my possession a piece of your history. The moment I chose to take these things, I made the choice to share them with you; I hope you will return the favor and share any Sturtz memorabilia in your possession on this site. Please share this link with your family; hopefully we can start sharing and preserving family stories this way.

The woman on the far left may be Rose Reichert, Aunt Lena's sister.
ReplyDeleteThis is Jean responding: I don't know who the woman on the left is but I think the house is hers and Lena, Mart and Agnes were visiting her and possibly Tom Curran or the unknown woman's husband was taking the picture.
